The Cancer Research UK Christmas Carol Concert at St. Paul’s Cathedral, in the presence of HRH The Duke of Gloucester, has raised more than £2million since its inception in 1994. With a succession of renowned opera singers and celebrated actors – among them Julian Fellowes, Celia Imrie, Edward Fox OBE, Dame Judi Dench, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sir Ian McKellen, Penelope Wilton, Alex Jennings, Kate Winslet and Sam West – the concert has been broadcast worldwide on Classic FM several times, and has become a highlight of the festive season for London society.
Chaired by Jill May, the 2015 Carol Concert was once again held at St Paul’s Cathedral. The concert was an incomparable occasion, combining a magnificent venue with outstanding music provided by St Paul’s Cathedral choir, The Band of the Welsh Guards, and soloists including celebrated English soprano Kate Royal and baritone Duncan Rock. There were also a selection of Christmas readings by guest celebrities, including Cressida Bonas, Tom Hollander, Hugh Bonneville, Robert Peston, Sam West, Penelope Wilton and Rory Kinnear. The event raised over £500,000 towards Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
